Just Kidding...
The doctor just called me and they rescheduled my induction date to Thursday, the 29th. So hopefully that gives me a couple more days to try and go into labor on my own. I tried the "magic herbs" (blue and black cohosh) for two days with zero results. I didn't have any more contractions than I have been and nothing seems to be progressing. So most likely I will still have to be induced so hopefully by Friday we will have a baby instead of a neverending pregnancy...
Final Update on Baby Brigg
I had my last OB appointment today until baby Brigg comes. The doc said my blood pressure is going up and I am starting to retain water so he won't let me go longer than next week before inducing me. He scheduled me for induction next Tuesday morning. So we are going to say lots of prayers that Brigg comes on his own before that. I dont' know why I am so against being induced. I know everyone does it. But I have an aversion to being pumped full of weird drugs in order to force out my baby who is obviously not ready to come yet or he would have made it on his own. So as my last resort I am going to try taking Blue Cohosh on Sunday or Monday to see if it puts me into labor. My friend, Sarah recommended it (actually, she took black cohosh but the health food store said blue is more effective in starting labor so I let them talk me into that). I asked the doc about it and he said it will very likely work to start my contractions but that accidental overdose will cause too many contractions too fast and it wont' be good...whatever that means. I figure that since it's natural, it's better than the drugs they will give me at the hospital to start my contractions and I might as well give it a shot.
So at the very latest, it looks like we will be having the baby next Tuesday or Wednesday. I will post again as soon as he's here!!

Still Nothing
Just in case anyone cares, we are still not making any progress with getting baby Brigg out and into the world. I am still not dialated and the doc says the baby hasn't dropped yet, so it's probably going to be some time still before Brigg is ready to make an appearance. He is measuring at only about 6.5 lbs (which I think is plenty big for something that has to squeeze out of a very small opening, but the doc thinks he can stand to gain a couple more pounds) so Dr. Beck is considering letting me go up to two weeks past my due date before inducing me if that's what I want to do. Not sure I really want to wait that long so I guess we'll see how I feel at my appt next week. Anybody have any ideas that actually work to get me to go into labor sometime soon?
Update on Baby Brigg
I have been getting phone calls and emails from all of my wonderful family and friends lately asking what's happening with the baby. And the answer is:
Absolutely NOTHING!
I went to the doctor yesterday and I am not dialated at all. Not even the tiniest bit. Nada. I am really against being induced if it's at all avoidable so I told him I would wait and see what happens. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, I am not sure yet), Dr. Beck won't let me go more than a week past my due date, so we are going to have to get serious about convincing Brigg to come out on his own before the 23rd. I am content to wait till then because I know that taking care of him is so much easier while he's on the inside than it will be when he's out. So we are just making lots of freezer meals, cleaning and organizing random cupboards in the house, shopping for all the things I forgot I needed for a new baby, trying to figure out how to get Gage to sleep through the night, and attempting to mentally prepare for the pain...
Happy Helpers
Last weekend we had Gage's friend, Jaymison over to play for the evening. Gage was having a hard time resisting the urge to tackle Jaymison for the first half hour so I decided to distract them by letting them help me make rolls. I have to say they were extrordinarily helpful in the kitchen. :)
They both started out pretty clean and were doing a great job of spooning the flour into the bowls.
Gage got progressively messier and messier and I realized that he was actually eating spoonfuls of flour rather than putting it in the bowl. J stayed amazingly clean throughout the process.
The boys shaped their own dough into rolls (okay, Gage actually just ate his dough, but J made some really nice rolls).
Their finished product:
Happy New Year!
We have crossed over into the world of boring, old parents. Our New Years Eve consisted of a fire and some s'mores in the backyard with our friends, the Dukes, then a really lame DVD and bedtime at 10pm.
Thank heaven the Dukes came over to entertain us or we would have had a really lame night. :)
Kyle got his new glasses for Christmas. He loves them and has been disappointed that no one seems to notice so be sure to mention it when you see him. :)
Gage tried his hand at roasting a marshmallow. He wanted to make sure it really got done so he stuck it deep into the coals.
Gage biting the dog (I think the dog deserves it for how much he chews on Gage, but Kyle didn't agree).
We went to Freestone park on New Years Day with our friends, Alysan and Eric and their kids. It was great until Gage bit poor Colton who had tackled him to save him from drowning in the pond, and then Gage had a meltdown on the carousel (for the record, I did tell Kyle that Gage is terrified of the carousel, but Kyle insisted on taking him anyway). Fun times. :)
