Happy Late Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the great moms out there...especially my moms, Deborah and Carol. I am so grateful to be blessed with two amazing examples as I attempt to succeed at motherhood.

I love being a mom. It's by far the hardest thing I have ever done (both in procuring my little angels and in keeping them alive and well every day) and so far I haven't proven to be very good at it. But motherhood is definitely the most rewarding job I have ever had (no offense to my good friends at The Golf Club :). My kids can make me crazy one minute and crack me up or melt my heart the next.

Gage is learning to talk and has succeeded in mildly entertaining us in the process. The other day we were driving home in the car while Kyle drove home in the truck. Gage was devastated that he had to ride in the car with me instead of with daddy. He watched the truck out the window all the way home to make sure daddy was still driving next to us. In an effort to assuage his fears of losing his daddy when we made it through a traffic light that detained Kyle, I told him that we would be home with daddy soon. So for the entire rest of the ride home he repeated over and over again, "homo daddy", "homo daddy", "homo daddy".

Brigg is still such a sweet baby. He learned to roll over yesterday and has been perfecting his new skill every time I put him down (including during diaper changes). He's very vocal and "talks" very loudly whenever I am talking to other people. I am a pretty loud person so I think he feels he needs to compete with me for the attention by being louder than I am. Brigg has become absolutely smitten with his big brother. He won't nurse if Gage is in the room b/c he doesn't want to miss some great fun that Gage has conjured up. And he cracks up giggling every time Gage sings and dances for him. I wish I could get that on camera but Gage won't perform for the camcorder and Brigg is too interested in the red light.
